PJ launches SCP in Kiruhura, Isingiro Courts

The Hon. The Principal Judge, Hon. Justice Dr. Yorokamu Bamwine, presided over the launch of Small Claims at Isingiro Chief Magistrate's Court. The Hon. Principal Judge, presided over the launch of the quick access to justice initiative at Kiruhura Chief Magistrate's Court.
At both courts, the public expressed gratitude to the Judiciary for bringing services to the ordinary person.
In his speech the PJ said through SCP billions of shillings have so far been unlocked and released back into the economy.
He added that the procedure has the potential to expedite resolution of conflicts and help to improve access to justice for not so complicated cases.
"It is an opportunity for those considered poor to come directly before court and have their day there," he said.
The launches were attended by district leadership and different actors in the Justice Law and Order Sector.
The SCP was established to adjudicate over claims whose subject matter does not exceed Ten million shillings, such as matters arising out of supply of goods, debts or rent.
